A  large USA Firm wants to hire at least 30 Telecom Engineers with DAS, UMTS RF or Microwave backhaul experience. Face to face interviews in Manila in October with successful candidates being sponsored to enter the USA under an H1B visa.  Relocation expenses of successful candidates and their immediate family shall be shouldered by the company.

A large US telecommunications engineering company has several open positions in the USA for the following:

 

1.  DAS (Distributed Antenna System) Engineers

 

Minimum 3 plus experience with designing and deploying both Passive and Active In Building solutions in a variety of different building classes – Airports, offices, hotels, sports stadiums, tunnels etc.

 

  • Firm knowledge base of all major in building passive and active components e.g. cable/fiber and antenna manufacturers, Fiber distribution equipment, BDA’s, splitters etc
  • Ability to manage a project from inception to delivery including the initial review of building, system design, coordination of installation, bill or materials, program management, site data fill and site acceptance.
  • Excellent Communication and program management skills and the ability to manage several projects, vendors and deliverables in tandem.
  • Experience with some or all of the following software packages and associated tools – Wireless Valley, iBwave RF-vu, TEMS Light, Agilent, CW Transmitter, Spectrum Analyzer
  • Experience with some of all of the major Active system manufacturers – ADC, Mobile Access, Andrew.
  • Proven record of trouble shooting and solving issues associated with In Building Design and Performance.

 

 

  2.  UMTS RF Engineers         

 

RF Engineer will be required to perform moderately difficult tasks that require limited judgment and requires minimum supervision (confer with technical leads on unusual problems). Responsibilities include linking budget analysis, system dimensioning for coverage and capacity, initial system design and dimensioning and RF optimization.

 

  • Perform RF network design, planning and optimization activities
  • Perform link budget analysis, design criteria and traffic analysis
  • Ensure data integrity of various morphology/topography databases and drive test data for model calibration
  • Undertake network performance improvement (KPIs) and optimization tasks
  • Undertake BSS/RNC/Node B parameter modifications
  • Analyze and recommend equipment and antenna co-location requirements for different technologies
  • Perform site build verification and acceptance
  • Perform PN planning
  • Responsible to resolve day-to-day issues and support regions to deliver KPI of every UMTS cluster
  • Implement UMTS optimization/acceptance plan, sponsor best practices, assess and escalate system issues to RAN, Core, Data design teams
  • Undertake network performance improvement (KPIs) and optimization tasks
  • Undertake BSS/RNC/Node B parameter modifications
  • Site configuration analysis
  • Pilot pollution analysis, parameter configuration, IRAT neighbor analysis
  • Exclusion / Exception area recommendation and verification
  • Identify, resolve all coverage and RF design deficiencies

 

 

 

Minimum Required Skills / Competencies:        

  • A minimum of 7 year work experience in RF Optimization.
  • A minimum of 3-4 years good work experience on UMTS Optimization
  • Thorough understanding of RF ancillary equipment and function.
  • Familiarity with UMTS RF design requirements
  • Good computer skills, able to work flexible hours,
  • Self- motivated and ability to work under pressure, good interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills required/Written and verbal
  • Reliability and strong organizational skills are a must.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple task to completion
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks successfully

3.  Microwave RF Engineers

 

Microwave RF engineers will be responsible for multiple aspects of microwave network design, implementation, and performance management. This would include: design of microwave networks using software and analysis tools; site selection support; path profile/line of sight analysis; microwave network field tuning/optimization; interference measurement/tracking; and ongoing capacity/performance management.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop microwave design(s), using licensed and unlicensed frequencies, which support the deployment of next generation wireless broadband networks
  • Utilize software propagation/planning tools along with defined design standards and link budgets, to create high quality microwave designs
  • Drive a strong design architecture that maximizes performance, link availability, and provides redundancy/diversity while also meeting budgetary objectives
  • Participate in the search ring process and assist in the selection of cell sites that are microwave-optimum. Must work closely with market project managers and service delivery RF engineering team during the site selection and acquisition process
  • Effectively manage design projects and any issues that arise to insure that they meet aggressive deployment timelines
  • Management of vendors, as necessary, if initial designs are outsourced. This includes conducting detailed design reviews and audits to ensure that all network objectives are fulfilled
  • Manage or conduct field work, including path surveys, installation and commissioning support, troubleshooting, and optimization
  • Assist in the commissioning and optimization process as equipment is deployed and brought into service
  • Help test and troubleshoot microwave backhaul network systems issues. Work with NOC/Tier 3 and equipment suppliers to resolve product defects
  • When spurious interference is encountered in a market, lead the effort to measure, identify, and resolve, the source(s) of interference
  • Provide ongoing capacity management, performance management, and redesign support, in launched markets

 

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible microwave backhaul network design and engineering experience
  • Bachelors of Electrical Engineering or similar field
  • Expert knowledge and skill in using microwave propagation and planning tools
  • Working level knowledge and experience in IP networking
  • Experience working at communication sites/towers to validate dish alignment, installation quality, and support optimization is a must
  • Solid understanding and hands-on experience with microwave performance instrumentation and analysis tools
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage personal workload, vendors, and deliverables, to meet aggressive project timelines
  • Strong work ethic and team player
  • Candidates should be capable of climbing ladders/stairs while carrying test equipment
